Ive tried to find the answer to this question on the forum but with no luck. So sorry for starting a new thread if its been asked before :D

When you buy plants from the LFS they usually come potted with some sort of tissue/paper wrapped among the roots. Is it ok to plant this in the aquarium? I have tried to remove it but its so entangled with the roots that its almost impossible not rip or destory some of the roots and your left with a sorry looking plant :(

Thanks

It shouldn't matter in that its inert and wouldn't do anything to the water. However try and remove as much as possible as it will restrict root growth and stops the roots getting to the nutrients in the substrate. Don't worry if you do end up removing some roots, you're supposed to cut the roots back anyway as it encourages growth :)
