Hi,
I’m new to UKAPS, but I’ve been reading the forums for a while. I’ve got a 20l nano set up that’s been going for about 3 months now. At first everything seemed to be going fine, but these past two weeks I’ve noticed the plants slowly deteriorating. At first it was the salvinia and amazon frogbit that started to go mushy and die.
I’ve got the standard aquael plant LED on for 8 hours a day. A co2 chamber that’s filled twice a day which keeps the drop checker at green.
I had been dosing Flourish, Flourish trace and excel on seperate days. Along with iron and potassium once a week. All doses as per the recommendations on the bottles.
Up until the last few weeks the plants had been doing well, mosses were growing, Monte Carlo has carpeted and the floating plants were multiplying in abundance.
As mentioned now the floating plants aren’t doing well and also my s repens are turning yellowish.
From my test kit I’m getting the pH of 6.2-6.4 (I have got jbl shrimp soil), ammonia 0, nitrites and nitrates 0. And this has been over the past few weeks pretty stable. Water change of about 15% once a week.
Animal wise I have; 5 CRS shrimp, 6 Neocaridina (yellow), 2 Pinocchio Shrimp, 1 small Rabbit snail and 5 least rasbora - so not too much as it’s only a small tank.
I’m not sure if maybe the plants are lacking phosphorus/ nitrogen as these have not been added yet and reading about the symptoms I’m seeing might be caused from that.
I’ve attached a few pictures below if anyone has any thoughts/suggestions on things to try?
Thanks
Damien
