Possible Plant Deficiency. What do you think?

Hi.
Some plants noticeably turning a brown/green straight after new growth. Marsilea Hirsutais and Hydrocotyle sp."Japan" really suffering the most.
Tried to take a pic but it is really difficult.

Hopefully you can see that the edges of the leaf have browning appearing on them. They are also looking a bit dented.
The tank has been set up for about 6 months now and this has started to happen in the last month.
35 Ltr scapers tank.
12 watts of light.
7 hours aday.
Little bit of Bio Co2. I bubble every 3 seconds if im lucky!
0.5 ml of Tropica specialised.
Thick Tropica soil.
Mini pat internal filter.
Heavily planted tank, with no room to spare!

I was wondering if I need to put some nutrient capsules into the area as these two plants especially are like weeds and grow really well! I dose fertz every day and always put plenty rather than not.
Water changes and all that up to scratch.

Let me know what you think, it would be nice to get them plants all green again!

Thank you for your time.

Simon.

The leaf of the Marsilea in the picture is emersed growth. The leaves growing underwater do not have the clover look. Maybe this is why it looks like that. How do the new leaves look?

Hi.
Thanks for your reply!
New leaves look good. Its a few days in that they adapt the browning on the edge that you can see. Really noticing the browning of the leaves on the Hydrocotyle as well. I wish that I could get a decent picture, will try again later.
There is plenty of vibrant green in the new leaves but they soon turn. It just seems to be the colouring. They are not wilting or rotting at all. Really strange, which is why I thought a couple of root tabs may help albeit slowly.

Hi @si walker

I wonder if there is an iron deficiency that is showing up on the new leaves? And, there may be other growth problems if carbon is in short supply. You could reduce lighting intensity if the lighting is dimmable - this will reduce demand for nutrients in general.

Great. Thats really interesting. Getting the old balance right. I can dose extra Iron also can I? Although wouldnt have a clue of how much to put in but could give it a go and keep an eye on it.
Lets see if anyone else pops along with a similar synopsis?
Thank you for your time!
Simon.

Does the brown rub off? Or is the leaf decomposing? My hydrocotyle was a diatom farm until it started to really take off, then it was just here and there and I would just trim the affected leaves.

In relation to the picture is the tank flow over that plant going left to right or vice versa because the brown periphery stain is affecting all leaves on one side only (or is this side surface pointing?).

Hi All.
So theres no brown algae to rub off the leaves at all. I have experienced this before about 10 years ago, but not with this tank.
I have had no diatoms or algae or anything in this aquarium form set up. Thankfully it has been really straight forward from day one! So lucky to have just enjoyed it thoroughly.

Yes thats an interesting thought! It runs right to left and upward to the surface to create a bit of movement. Its a really small filter head but very powerful and I always go for Max in that respect. Theres no fish.
I think that the browning on one side on the pic is the way it is displayed on this plant. The hydrocotyle displays it from all angles around the leaf. I am going to check up on this though and get back to you!

Thank you!!

Has anyone added extra Iron before. API do an Iron + Potassium. EasyLife do Iron. Need to have a go I guess.

I am going to cut my light duration a bit although reluctant. I wanna see my tank!

Hi all,
I see that @dw1305 is online right now. Perhaps he will find time to take a look at your post.
Thanks @jaypeecee, I've arrived.

I agree with @Sarpijk.
And I have a load of floating plants that he may want to check!
Yes, a picture of the floaters would be useful.
My hydrocotyle was a diatom farm

Diatoms was going to be my guess as well.
