Power cut help please

Hi,

I've just had a power cut here for about 5 mins, I have a 4' tank running 405 fluval external filter; when power cut water came flowing out of filter, thank god we were up, or else it would have emptied tank!

That led me on to thinking, can anything be done to stop this??? If we'd have been in bed, I would have lost entire tank!

Any ideas please??

Sorry mate, don't understand. If the power cuts out then surely the external just stops and nothing flows out of tank and nothing flows in? Are you saying the tank was overflowing?

Water was coming out from the filter, so I'm thinking now that the seal must be shot on the filter. I'll get some advice tomorrow on replacing it.
