I've got about 50 different tetras neons and ones with a red stripe. Guppies I give up trying to count. Red shrimp all in a planted tank.
I'm thinking about putting something a bit bigger in. But I want something that isn't going to upset the balance and eat the shrimp.
What do you recommend.
Was thinking gourami size.

Not eating your shrimp is the problem I fear. Larger fish naturally take advantage of larger food items and that would mean shrimp. Apistogramma and other small cichlid species like rams, would have fitted nice if it wasn't for the non crustacean diet. Gourami will eat them as well but there might be people who have mixed larger species and got away with it. As shrimp hide you might have some survivors but the harmony of the tank would be out.
You might do well with scarlet or other bad is but they aren't particularly big just safer with shrimp.
