red root floaters growing emersed

Not my photo, but someone in our local aquarium group posted this. My Phyllanthus fluitans does start to grow above the waterline, but I usually trim it back or otherwise keep it under a lid (jumpers). I've wondered what would happen if I just let it grow out, but I didn't expect to see this!

Mine just grow flat along the waterline but I thin them out to allow light through and so that the corys can grab some air. Must try it in my emersed set up.
