Revamp after a lighting upgrade

At long last I've upgraded the lights on my 2½' deep 250L tank with 2x45W T5 tubes.
The planting is somewhat depleted at the moment with Crypt Balansae, Echinodorus Cordifolius and Crypt Wendtii, none of which is in a great state, and no shortage of algae that has thrived. (I'm working to clear all that out.)

I've long wished for moss and/or carpet, but as the tank is so deep, light has been low up till now, and maintenance needs to be minimal, that hasn't been viable.
Any carpet is noing to need to bee at least 2' below the surface, but I can get moss further up in on vetical hardscape.
So any recommendations?
