Hi, thinking about getting some Seachem Excel, to replace my DIY CO2 - and I understand it also kills algae. If so, how will this affect the algae eaters I have in the tank?

It only affects certain algae, black brush for instance. And it doesn't immediately wipe it out. It has an impact, but it's not a comprehensive algaecide. Algae eaters - with the exception of the SAE - don't eat black brush algae anyway. I wouldn't be too worried about your algae eater starving as a result of dosing excel. A lot of algae eaters also graze on biofilms that bacteria form.

Ok that's great. I don't have that much algae in the tank anyway - but was worried about the algae eaters going without the micro amounts that the eye can't see.

So all good. I will get some ordered. Thanks.
