Seeding new filter and flow

Hi All, I am about to set up a new nano and am currently running the filter for it in my mature tank (first link in my sig). Stupid question - should I be running the new filter on a slow flow rate to maximise the amount of contact time the sponge has with mature tank water? Or should I be running it at a high rate to maximise the amount of mature tank water it is in contact with? Or does it not matter?

Currently running it on it's slowest rate.
