Has anyone ever tried sharpening their curved scissors?
Mine have got a few chips in them from trimming roots with bits of gravel still in. Wondered if you could do it in the same way you sharpen kitchen knives.
Not the same as sharpening knives of any sort. Knives have two bevels whereas scissors have only one. If you have nicks that you want to remove then you you're more in to a re-grind of the bevel followed by sharpening rather than sharpening alone. Unless the nicks are really affecting cutting then I'd forget about removing the nicks and just sharpen. From memory you sharpen just one side and don't remove the wire edge that develops on the flat side.
The stone he was using was a duel layer (coarse/smooth) sharpening stone. I have one for my japanese and chinese cleavers and knives. You can find one here from amazon for £8.
