    Hey,
About to do an order on the website, as soon as the 12*8*8 opti whites are in stock.

One question, would TWO azoo mignon 60 HOB filters fit onto the back of it? Just wondering because I want a flow rate of about 120lph, so one 60 mignon is too little and the next one up (240 I think) is too much.

    Just had a look :)

They look like good filters, but the smallest one has a flow rate of 300lph. That's WAY too much, Don't forget this nano will only be tiny (12inches by 8 by 8), it'll make a tidal wave in there!

I do like the look of the mignons. And I won't have a large bioload, it'll only be cherry shrimp in there.

You'd be surprised, I use a eden 501 on a 5gallon tank. George's little mountain used a eden 501 too, that tank is the same size as yours. Both the eden and the hydor are rated at 300lph.

The 240 is a great little filter and in fact I ran the 60 on a 30L cube with no problems. The flow is also adjustable so you can turn it down if you think it's too high.

    Richard,

How do the HOB filters do when injecting CO2? I'm concerned it will drive a lot of CO2 off making me get through a lot of refils!

I think that is the biggest problem of HOB filters...

They're essentially a waterfall to return water back into the tank so injection rates have to be quite high. This is due to the surface aggravation of the return fall off gassing the co2 pretty badly, I'm lead to believe it's not too bad but I would always want to use a canister filter.

I'm going to go with the mignon 240 I think. I'll be using easy carbo...

I just don't see where I'd put an external - the tank's going to sit on top of a bookshelf.

Avaliable to order optiwhite 12*8*8 tommorow!!!! expect an order from me aquaessentials!!

I've never used easy carbo before. Do I measure if I'm putting in the right amount with a drop checker like you would with pressurised? (I want to know whether or not to buy a drop checker too)

You don't use a drop checker you just add a certain amount each day, something like .5ml
