Skinny Java moss

In one of my tanks (small 25litres, extremely low tech, few plants, gravel base) my java moss is getting thinner - not "thinning out"per se, just the strands are becoming finer. Colour seems fine. Is this just a lack of ferts perhaps? I very rarely dose anything in this tank and have had the moss there for at least a year, but now it is "on a diet" it seems.
Just curious really, as in my main tank (well fertilised, well lit), I can't stop the stuff from spreading everywhere in big fat strands! Also in my shrimp only tank where I also do not dose anything.

I think the culprit is included on the pic. I've seen them eat fissidens like its steak too :)
mine is doing the same. Unless the conditions are perfect then moss is growing quicker than being eaten and starts looking denser :)
