I'm looking for a slow growing floating plant for my 20 litre Betta tank, all the usual plant I buy seem to take over in a matter of weeks and I just get fed up and end up throwing the lot out. One I'm looking at at the moment is Azolla caroliniana has anyone any experience with this?

That's a weed with a growth rate comparable to Duckweed! Don't do it! It's also an invasive weed and is under consultation to be added to Schedule 9 due to it's invasive nature! It shouldn't really be sold any more and it's definitely not a good choice for your tank!

The best floating plants I have used are Salvinia spp., Amazon Frogbit and Ludwigia helminthorhiza. All of these grow quickly though, it's just that they're large and easy to remove and manage.
