Not Really Sure where to post this, s thought i'd stick it in the general forum

does anyone have an idea of whether a standard kitchen worktop would take the weight of fish tanks (got a 125L and buying a 4" *2") or is it really just a guessing game?

TIA

haven't tried yet, Buying a new house and building a new kitchen which means im allowed to use the current one as a Fishroom.

If standard 15mm (or 18mm) chip board, then the answer is no. It is not really strong enough to support a tank (as is) and other issue is extremely susceptible to water damage.

Some people have used standard units, but have added much reinforcing in terms of extra timber and/or doubling up all the panels. Oh and serious water proofing to stop the chip board turning to porridge when you accidentally spill water.
