After reading a thread about cleaning drop checkers with Milton Baby Sterilising Fliud (quite dear) I have found a cheaper option - supermarkets own brand - Morrison 1250mls for 68p.

Tired this yesterday (well last night), this morning the ceramic diffuser is nice and clean. My only concerns is whether any of the sterilising solution has passed through the ceramic disc and has become diluted within the water - as the disc is porous and how do you remove that water that is trapped within the glass bowl underneath the ceramic disc.

i used to give it a good, forceful shake and it slowly comes out, however, it may bubble so you need to wait for the bubbles to settle again
