T5 for Rekord 70

I am looking to fit some T5 to my Rekord 70 tank now. Currently I am using a single T6 on the original Juwel hood. Can anyone suggest anything. I think the Hagen Glo T5 2x24w would be way too much for my tank. I dont currently have presurrised CO2 either, I dose daily with EasyCarbo.
You can had a single T8 15w to the existing 15w making it 30w in total, that whats I did in my Rekord 60. Would be easier to manage growth with liquid carbon and prevent algae issues.

I use one of this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/14W-15W-Interpet- ... 240%3A1318

You welcome, shop arround for the starter unit you might find it cheaper, the link was just to show you the model I have. I purchased a second starter unit recently second hand on ebay much cheaper and its also Arcadia.

Hey Paul!

I ripped the internals out of my Rekord60 hood and bolted in two 15w T8's, more than enough for my 15-gallon.

Adding a second tube whilst keeping the original light doesn't work well in terms of light distribution - you end up with loads of light below the tubes but depending upon where you put the second tube, you end up with a dark patch at the front or back of the tank.

It's a little more money and a little more time, but if you strip everything out of the original hood you can bolt one tube onto the front vertical panel of the hood and one to the rear vertical panel of the hood. With the reflectors positioned correctly this gives a really even light spread over the whole substrate base.

I'll try to get a photo tonight when the hood is off for the water change.
