Hello,

A CLAS member gave a plant that I am strugling to identify.

The plant has long spear shaped leaves, and thick stem, quite hard, almost like a bush. The plant seems to like light, as it grows tall and it is bright green.

Would you know the name?

Hi all,
Could be Alternanthera, but I think it is a large Hygrophila of the "Giant Hygrophila" H. corymbosa siamensis persuasion. Also looks like it would benefit from a feed with magnesium (and or Iron) and some nitrogen (pale lamina and dark leaf veins).
cheers Darrel

It could be a H. Corymbosa, as the ones I got does not have red leaves.

I just got them, I placed the stems on a pot with JBL AquaBasis plus, and a JBL Ball on it as well. As they are right under a AquaFX light, and an T5 tube, they should have enough light. I also got JBL CO2, so soon I will see them at their best.

Many thanks for the help.

if its A.reineckii it will have a pink tinge under decent lighting.
But the leaves look to large to be reineckii.

Cheers, the plant does not look like Alternanthera reineckii, the shape of the leaves are not the same as yours, and after a week under good light the leaves are still very much green. :)

At least now I know what the plant is, and it is a good addiction to the tank, the shrimp love to clean the leaves.

Many thanks for all your help.
