Lake Tanganyika is a very old isolated lake with no outlet which causes a buildup of salt concentration due to evaporation. I believe the lake has a higher than normal salinity typically found in freshwater bodies. Additionally, the lake is poor in nutrients with an average Phosphorus concentration of less than 0.01ppm. As a result the lake is high in phytoplanktonic and algal species upon which feed the fauna. Principal submerged macrophytes include species of Potamogeton, Ceratophyllum and Utricularia but you will struggle to find these readily available.
See this TFH link which provides a running list of native species. Again, it's doubtful you'll easily find any of these:=> Plants and Lake Tanganyika
