Just in case anyone missed this - available now on iPlayer. Definitely worth watching - we don't get many programmes on TV!

BBC iPlayer - Amazon Abyss: Episode 7

A one hour documentary on the fish and other wildlife of the Amazon. Some cool images and an insight into the natural habitats. We never need worry about less-than-perfectly-clear water again!

Sorry - probably UK residents only, I would imagine.

On the plus side you cant really fault their flow and water changes :drowning:

3 knots is about 5ft per second

The dry start method is pretty epic though :nailbiting:

Just a 'little' water in the river and then flood!!! Those fresh water sponges were 20ft of the ground just waiting for the rains.

I worked in Brazil for a number of years and had the opportunity to visit the Amazon (Manaus) on a regular basis.
I remember one year when the water level started dropping in the dry season, seeing hundreds of tetras left high and dry in puddles in pathways by the river side.
