The Kraken Archipelago of Vietnamesia

looking good,love the emersed wood :thumbup;

Very natural looking. I'm curious about which fishes you have in it.:)

Hi Guys

Thanks for the comments. I am not actually sure of the plant or animal species because here in vietnam everything is obviously labeled in vietnamese. Some of the plants and fish I have caught in the wild including the needle fish I have shown below. Many of the emersed plants are plants i have collected from all over South East Asia :)

I have a small pipe running water up to the top of the branch trickling water down to allow me to grow plants all over.

I also have a separate thread going about a ant problem I am having, any help would be welcome:

Hope you like, these are actually quite old pics, will get some more recent ones soon.

Wow,..I love this set up.:) Stickleback,...could you be kind enough to give us more details on lighting, filtration, substrate, and plants please? Looks like you don't have a filter in there. Are you using just indirect sunlight to light it up? What kinds of plants do you have growing above the water ? I love it how you placed it in the balcony. Are those ADA woods? So many questions,....i'm sorry:oops:

Hi Faizal, sorry, hadn’t realised I had given so little detail, here it is:

Aquarium Details

Location: Vietnam

Size: L140 x W80 x H60cm 15mm glass

Lighting is just from natural light, I have planted that small jungle behind it to stop too much light getting through. It also makes a great backdrop. I also have a strong incandescent spotlight to light it up later on, although I don’t think that really affects the plants growth. It looks great when there is a moody thunderstorm and pouring rain behind.

Substrate is a mix of soil, gravel and borneo wild substrate,

The wood was from the collection detailed below. I have a great aquascaping shop out here and the guy who runs it sourced that wood, wicked collection of pieces!

Filtration is currently 3 Eheim 2222s, but it feels under filtered, a lot of detritus is building up so I have just bought a massive Eheim classic 2260 and changed the 2400lph pump to a 3400, so that will more than double my filtration.

My tunze powerhead just broke, so while back in U.K. recently I got a Vortech MP40W ES. Looking forward to getting it set up and creating some waves in the tank.

Position: It is on the balcony outside my office. I live in Vietnam and work as an Online Editor, basically doing VFX and finishing off TV commercials. In that capacity I often have a room full of clients and it is a great way to distract them while I get on with my work. We also do a lot of work for Japan and they love it!

Here is the thread in which I worked out the technique, lots of others posted helpful info there if you are interested.
