It's been a long time, and things got out of hand on my last tank. But the underwater jungle has now been cleared, the inhabitants rescued and rehoused, and the stones cleaned up.

And so: here's the new hardscape. (Quick photo so nothing special.) First time with any manzanita for me, though have had it stored for a few years now.

Just planted lightly with Staurogyne repens and a little Hottonia palustris to start things off. The front will be Lilaeopsis brasiliensis when it arrives in the post. Nice and simple to begin with. Giving it a blast of high CO2 with no fish or shrimps for a few days to establish things and get the stauro rooted in.

Hardscape and equipment details coming up in the next post.

Very nice hardscape indeed! How did you build up the height?
