Why not try a Hydor inline heater?

I'm pretty sure Eheim are the only brand with a built in heater, however as dave said, you can easily attach one of the Hydor ETH external heaters onto the outflow pipe of pretty much any external filter, depending on pipe diameter, I've just ordered one myself to go on the outflow of my pro II 2026

Thanks guys, I'm just researching products for my eventual new setup - 75L.

I can't believe Eheim are the only ones who've done it! It seems a pretty basic idea. :(

I've contemplated briefly whether I can retrofit a heater into a canister filter. Not given it a lot of thought though. I suspect you'd have problems with the length of electric cable on the heater not being long enough to feed down the inlet pipe. You could of course drill a hole for the cable in the canister and seal it in place.

A DIY project for an old filter perhaps ;)
