TNC trace

I still have some TNC trace salts left. Today, for some reason I sniffed then and smelled the distinct smell of ammonia. Is that possible? I no longer have the original packaging to check the composition as I transferred them from their bag into a jar.

I think it is, but I don't think it is anything to worry about.

All <"ammonium salts are soluble">, so it may contain <"ammonium molybdate"> ((NH4)6Mo7O24) <"or similar"> compound.

Human Odour detection threshold for Ammonia can be anywhere between 0.05ppm to 2.1ppm (sniffing the headspace in a container above a compound containing ammonia) depending on the olfactory response of the subject doing the sniffing and whether the sniff was performed by the slow sampling nostril or fast sampling nostril.

As Darell says very likely Ammonium HeptaMolybdate, also not discounting that other traces could be from Ammonium Compounds.
