Are there fine foliage plants like Cabomba that have tough texture? I keep a cichlid planted tank with Java Fern, Anubia, Bolbitis, Sword, Crypt and Ludwigia, all have tough texture that can withstand nipping from fish. I am looking for some fine foliage plants to mix in but they must also be tough to withstand occasional nibbling. Do they exist?

Hi all,
Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum)? Leaves are tough although the stems are a bit brittle.

cheers Darrel
Yes, Hornwort is the easiest stem plant to grow, but its brittle stems and weak root system is a guarantee that it will be shredded all over.

How tough is Ambulia? It‘s rated as an easy plant and looks remarkably like Cabomba.

Ambulia (=Limnophila sessiliflora and Limnophola aquatica) do look quite similar to Cabomba, but are defenitely not "tough" in texture......... They are so fast-growing, that they may work well for your purpose, though. Both tolerate quite wide range of parametres in the tank, but the sessiliflora has the widest tolerance.
