Trimming Hairgrass

The hairgrass (Eleocharis Acicularis) in my only tropical tank is growing well but starting to look a bit untidy and I was thinking about giving it a trim.

Never having done any proper trimming before, will trimming the hairgrass slow down the growth or maybe encourage it? Although the hairgrass is untidy at the minute, I'd sooner have it that way rather than trimming it and causing any problems.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just cut your hairgrass close to substrate. This will promote new growth but it will stay low. If you don’t want it to spread out to much, you can keep constantly trimming unwanted new growth which is outside designated area.

Thanks for the help. I was worried about the hairgrass turning brown. I guess it's something I have to try to see what happens.
