Tropica plant growth specialised fertiliser

Hi,

does it contain NPK and trace elements?

Thanks
Tropica Specialized = NPK + traces
Tropica Premium = K + traces

Please note that in some websites were the nutrient content is detailed they refer to these fertilizers as Tropica Plant Nutrition: TPN and TPN+. I think these are the previous names of these Tropica product range.

I find this web site call Google.com really helps in questions like this...:D

http://tropica.com/en/plant-care/liquid-fertilisers/specialised-fertiliser/
Didn't really trust Tropica's website on this so I wanted a direct answer from them...

Also ian_m, with all due respect, and don't get me wrong here, I am fine with it, but this is what demotivates people from asking questions....that tiny bit of sarcasm :) Just know that I appreciate it because people that use sarcasm are said to have a higher IQ. However, not everyone is like me right? :) This is on a friendly note of course!

Really? Tropical website is IMO one of the websites with more comprehensive information on planted tanks. Their advice section (light, plant needs, etc.) is really simple and honest, and the video channel is excellent (plant handling, layout design, plant pruning, etc.)...

True, this information coms from here: http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/traces.htm
(It looks like the author ask to Tropica the exact composition)
Tropica range is not that different from other brands approach. Most of them have a generalist one with NPK + traces, a micro solution (in most cases including K)... and some brands additionally do sell specific solutions for each of the nutrients separately. Think about ADA (with the Brighty Steps including micros and K, then the Brighty lights and shades with NPK, then Brighty K with K only, etc.), Seachem, Vimi, etc.

So do we think an error in Tropica's web site, not mentioning potassium ?

Yes I was only joking...well taken. :oops::D
I have no clue :) thats why I am hopping they can enlighten us...

My reading is that the information is for ALL people, not mainly people that have some good knowledge about fertilisation. So if there is too much info, it gets boring for the "normal" user. It's direct information...

For my humble use of Tropica Fertilisation, it's a great product that you should use (if it is a real planted aquarium) with a (much) greater dose then the one specified on the bottle. Those are "safe" values.

Pedro.

I also overdose when using Tropica ferts, but of course each tank is different and it is nearly impossible to give accurate guidelines to users.

How come a "complete" fertiliser doesn't contain potassium?

Tropica risk losing another customer by their sloppy writing.

Both fertilisers (Specialised and Premium) contain potassium.

See their answer in the comment of this video.
"Yes, both our liquid fertilisers contain Potassium, Specialised more than Premium."

[hey, I can't place it as a link. So you have to click play and the youtube icon will appear
at the lower right, clicking the icon will bring you to youtube.com and see the comment]

Hi Jaap,
I'm sorry if our products or their presentation leave you frustrated due to missing information. Some of you explained it quite well above; with our communication, we try to reach beginners or "average Joe" in planted tanks - rather than experienced guys like yourselves ;)!
We tend to make planted tanks become more reachable by simplifying and it would be too complicated for most of us to get all the information served.
But I have attached here the declaration/certificate of analysis of both liquid ferts from our subcontractor/manufacturer, I hope this will satisfy you.

And also; I don't get the alerts telling me that somebody has written on this forum. (I have checked it many times and everything on my UKAPS profile seems to be set correctly). So I'm sorry, but I may not react very fast to any comments or questions. If you would like to get in touch, please use either our Facebook-page to contact us or write an email, contact info on our website http://tropica.com/en/about-us/contact-us/. Thanks!

Indeed....the dosage should be drastically increased! Look at the dosing these guys are doing:
http://tropica.com/en/inspiration/layout/Layout99/10351

Nearly 10 times the recommended dosage...
But then read Mark Evans' journal as a contrast
Please note, that very much light is given to first example and Mark states less light given to second example. This is why amount of fertiliser given is different.
For easy understanding, think "car": upping light / stepping on gas pedal => using more ferts / using more petrol.
- and yes; planted tanks (most of UKAPS) will need higher dosing, than recommended on bottle.

I'm using TPGS for over a half a year now and mix it with EasyLife Profito 50/50 and depending on what my plants tell me sometimes a pumpy more of this or that.
Realy love the TPGS it saved me a few plant sp. that didn't sufice with only Profito and florished well on the tropica cocktail..

TPGS what ever is in there it's :thumbup::thumbup: Cocktails and Dreams.. :hungry:

Must say the LFS i bought it from said, "I do not sell it much and asked what i thought about it. He also said "You are the first one able to give me a possitive feedback about it." I wonder why that is... ??? Trigger fingers on the dispenser with closed eyes probbably..
