I've finally got round to uploading some of the photos from my recent trip to Uganda.

I flew into Entebbe Airport, right next to Lake Victoria, and then drove to Kampala and onto Masaka town where I was staying with the headteacher of our partner school, Meeru Primary School in Masaka District. We went to the Sesse Islands in the middle of Lake Victoria, Queen Elizabeth Park, Ssenye Fish Farm, Jinja (where the source of the Nile is) and Kampala (the capital city) and Entebbe Animal Park, as well as visiting 6 different schools. All in all an amazing trip and I can't wait to go back.

Here are some photos and the link to my album on photoshop is at the bottom.

Looks like you had a good time,
no thanks to the fish & chips though

Whats the bird in the 3rd picture? It's beautiful.

The fish and chips were excellent; much tastier than cod!

The bird is a Crowned Crane - the national bird of Uganda. This was one that walked out of an enclosure and jumped up right next to me! Saw lots of fantastic wild birds there.

Best looking fish & chips I have seen, great pics Ed thanks for sharing, very interesting.

Are they pics of lake victoria?

The one of me wading is in Lake Victoria and the ferry is on the lake too. I also flew in over the lake.

Did you spot any familiar cichlids?

Saw Oreochromis niloticus at the fish farm and the one pictured in the Nile is a Thoracochromis I think. The Oreochromis are commonly sold as mouthbrooders or tilapia (even in supermarkets for food!) but the other are rarer. I didn't get to fish in the Lake this time so none of the endemic species.

I'm glad to be back Steve but I hope I'll get to go again soon.
