Using an Elite 60 without a hood

Hi,

I've just purchased a second Elite 60 tank - 60l - 60cm x 30cm x 35cm

I'm thinking about doing away with the hood and using led lighting instead, but does anyone think this will be a problem.

The no centre brace on the tank, but I don't know whether a tank this size would need one, or whether the hood was providing any structural support to the tank.

Anyone got any idea?

A 60cm tank doesn't need a centre brace. My mates 90cm tank had no centre brace either but anything bigger than that needs one

It should be fine. I have had my little 60l Juwel tank open topped for a couple of years now with no problems.

I started with an elite 60, and they do fine without the hood, as others have stated.
