uv steriliser

dismantling my marine tank in readiness to convert it into a low tech planted system.Should I use the uv steriliser on the planted system or not?
 
no it's not needed and continued use can affect the ferts (i believe) but it's handy if you get any green water algae (run it for a couple of days and lots of water changes)
