Vallisneria care.

Ive bought a few Vallisneria spiralis For a tank im re-doing tomorrow. The plants have a weight and sponge around them. Do i plant as is, or divide them, and plant?

Remove the sponge and weight and depending on amount of stems split them, I'd probably keep 2 maybe 3 stems (depending on size) together.
