Hi all

I’m just about to move house and my Solar RGB will need to be hung differently (currently from ceiling) as new ceiling is too high/not level.

Was thinking about hanging from a wall bracket eg Hi-Load Bracket 120kg White 250 x 250mm 10 Pack

Anyone think this is a good/bad idea?!

Can’t find anyone who has done similar

Is it suspended with wires? Can you get longer steel wires as levelling is easy.

Bump! Any one have a view. Looking at the load the brackets look to be strong enough. I just wonder why this isn’t a common means of hanging light fittings. Perhaps takes a bit if basic diy and asthetically might not suit everyone’s taste?

I wouldn't be concerned about the weight load; the light will only be about 4-5kg max. I would just choose brackets according to the best suitability for me to hang the cables from or drill cable attaching holes into. More importantly, get the right fixings / rawl plugs for the wall's material

The brackets are very strong, used them for heavy duty shelves previously, no issues. You could stand on them, they are that strong.

Another option would be to use the brackets to mount a shelf at a suitable height and suspend the light from shelf.

That's what I did recently. I got cheaper brackets on ebay, just had to make sure they stick forward enough.

Hi Tom,
I’m also currently looking at options for suspending a solar RGB. I’m not so much fancying the ADA light stand. Although a beautifully crafted piece of metal with the ADA logo I’m sure, I just think the whole thing looks ugly and asymmetrical. Like it’s an afterthought, designed for a light that was intended to hand from a ceiling when it was designed. An expensive one at that!

Do you have any pictures of what your light looked like suspended from the ceiling?

And also how did you get on with the brackets? Any pictures of your solution?

We just moved 3 weeks ago so I’m attempting to put this up my to do list! Will keep you posted, I’m keen to get this sorted next weekend. I also think it would be possible to hang from the ceiling with some very long wire, but looks quite specialist. My other house it was easy to suspend from the ceiling as it was standard height (I will try and find a pic)
