Water Flow

I am currently just using the return pipe from my external power filter to return water back into my tank.
There seems to be an adequate flow around the tank but I'm wondering if the use of a spray bar at one end of the tank will improve the flow and distribution of nutrients to the plants.

I would appreciate your advice on what is normally used?

I'd leave it, a spray bar might increase the speed of the flow but will more than likely reduce the overall amount of water pumped out.

This can only be true if the combined surface area of the spraybar holes is less than the return tube's cross sectional area. If properly used, spraybars are an excellent method of improving flow distribution throughout the tank.
