Hi,
I’ve been interested in setting up some sort of terrarium style tank for a while. I had in mind a taller style to fit within a piece of existing furniture in our living room. With this criteria I found the dooa neo glass air 20x20x35cm, perfect for the space :)
I’ve been umming and ahhhing about what to do with it but opted for a rock only based hardscape with some lush green planting. I found some suitable Frodo stone pieces at my local store and added a simple two stone layout which provided height and separated the front and rear planting areas.
I have used some powersand, with a mix of ada Amazonia and Amazonia light which I had in stock.
I have no real idea what will work so it is all experimental for me. Hopefully some of the plants will thrive.
Today I have purchased the plants and aim to plant up in the coming days and will share the highs and lows.

That looks really nice mate those beautiful stones help a lot looks bigger than 20cm
Cheers Jay. I must have agreed with you about it looking bigger when I bought the plants
Nice stones Ady:thumbup:
Would look good with a load of moss sticking to them!
Yep they would, I was in a dilemma as I really like the idea of a mossy fern style, however I’ve opted for a fresher look with some brighter greens. Next time I’m going to do a wood moss and mini fern layout. I had hardscape laid out to do either but opted for a rock only tank with more stem type plants

Planted this up tonight, too many varieties of plants I guess but will see what works and what doesn’t. All a bit of ‘suck it and see’ from here on in.......

Plant list:
•bucephelandra micrantha’needle leaf’
•ranunculus inundatus
•eleocharis acicularis mini
•pogostemon erectus
•rotala bonsai
•pogostemon halferi
•micranthemum tweedie‘Monte Carlo’
•eriocaulon cinerum

cheerio,

When that cinerem flowers it will add some vertical interest to the scape!

Yeah hopefully. I’ve got the p. Erectus rear right to add some height, but put the cinerum in the front to add a bit there if it flowers.

Just a little update, nothing much has happened however I can see things are starting to grow. The condensation is not as prolific and I’m enjoying the simplicity but aesthetic of the little dooa terrarium :)

Missed this one, that looks great mate great hardscape for such a small space i am interested as always wanyed to try something similar for kitchen or somewere.

I see lots of people online adding springtails etc bit not entirely sure of there function to similar setups what do you currently do just dampen every so often ?

Keep us updated mate.

Thanks Dean, yeah they are great little ventures and very simple to set up. I say simple, but I guess time will tell with this 😬 For the first couple of weeks I simply sprayed with a tap water mist daily, I now have the dooa wabi mist too which has fungicides and some nutrient content I believe. I still utilise the water mist also but not as frequently.
I believe the springtails are again to aid with fungus, I will see how this goes but I’m a bit unsure about adding tiny bugs

Hi,
I added some springtails :) I had some minor mould issues and one completely melted portion of ranunculus which I removed.
The tank is doing ok, some new runners from the ranunculus and plenty of flowers from the eriocaulon. I need to trim the larger ranunculus leaves as they are out scaling the little dooa. The buce is struggling in some areas where it doesn’t get enough moisture from the rock. The pogostemon erectus also isn’t doing as well as expected but is adding height. The leaves seem to remain tight together almost stuck, I think this is a moisture/humidity issue but am unsure how to find the balance as other plants seem to need more moisture and regular daily misting. I have the glass top open a few mm now but do need to squeegee the glass when I want to look in as it is constantly misted.
The pogostemon halferi is remaining compact and looking nice and the rotala bonsai is looking good but doesn’t appear to have grown. MC is now carpeted and looking particularly fresh which is nice to see.
I have also added a timer to give a consistent 12hr photoperiod as it was becoming quite irregular and the duration lengthy
Overall it’s pretty cool and the lack of rapid progress could be seen as a positive as trimming is limited and infrequent:lol:

Nice, been seeing them popping up on all the youtube videos recently, are these nasty if they escape?
Like Gremlins :woot:
Apparently they would die as the environment would be too dry, they like it humid :)

I love Gremlins, Gizmo is so cute :p
Fair enough no risk of having a house infested with these then ;)

😂like gremlins. Reminds me of looking after a neighbours reptiles once when the crickets accidentlly got out of the container under the sink . You could hear them chirping all over the house. :)

Looking good Ady:clap:

Hi,
This little terrarium is ticking along nicely.
It’s constantly misty, but if I open the top significantly the buce dries out a little so that is probably the limiting factor to clearing it up. The pogostemon erectus could probably do with it a little drier as it hasn’t opened its fronds properly yet, but is growing.
Trimmed again the other day as the ranunculus is quite productive.
Springtails are thriving and no return of any mould :D
Few little shots.....
