Hi Everyone,

I have got these two strange looking plants growing among my carpet Monte Carlo. At first, I decided to uproot them but then decided to see how these 2 will look when fully grown. Now I have taken a liking to them and don't want to uproot them.:angelic:

Can any of the members here, be kind enough to inform me the name of the plants?
Thank you and have an awesome weekend ahead.:)
Cheers

Hi Ryan,
Yes you right, I just googled it up. Thanks.
They look awesome when grown in bunches.

Now I need to know what that grass looking plant is.

Hi Tim,
I looked up polygonum sp, th is is what I found in Green Machine's website. http://www.thegreenmachineonline.com/shop/aquatics/plants/tropica-potted-plants/polygonum-sp
The plant seem to have purple colour in its leaves but mine doesn't or at least not now.

The search continues. :pompus:

Your first plant is most likely Murdannia Keisak - and no, it's not a grass, but in the Comeliceae family like Tradescantia.

Having looked closer .......it COULD be a grass, that I can't remember the name of, but sometimes sold as an aquatic.

Have just googled the grass......name is Oplismenus.

It's quite easy to tell if it's the grass. If the stem is quite hard and it has destinctive "knees", that are easy to break, just under each leaf - it's the grass (Oplismenus).
If the stem is more soft and no "knees" - it's Murdannia.

Took a closer today, and yes they have no "knees". So I suppose that they are Murdannia keisak.

Taken from Tropica's website:
This bamboo-looking stem plant is not a grass. It comes from Asia, where it often grows in rice fields.
The growth is upright, but the plant branches out willingly when it is cut back.
The leaf is light green, approx. 1cm wide and 3-5cm long. The stem apex becomes reddish when exposed to CO2 and strong light.
Due to quick growth, the longest shoots require ongoing cut back and some of the tops can be replanted, in order to maintain a beautiful and varied group of plants.

Case solved then. :)
Thanks everyone.
