Whats best to do with unwanted fish?

Hi all.

Looking to rehome some of my plecos.

5 x sultan plecos
3 x L236

Rand a few local shops and there not intrested.

Can any 1 recomend any options?

These are quite nice plecos.

I’d go about this a bit differently, put them on eBay with collection only option. Sell as species groups.

If they don’t sell, relist.

If they don’t sell after that, would you post them? Annoying but it’s doable. Someone will buy them if you’d post. I’d take them if I was near.

After all that (if no buyer is found), I’d put them in separate buckets with lids and take them to your nearest good LFS, make an excuse like “blown heaters, can’t afford to repair” and make sure they know they’re breeding groups and they should be taken in without issue. A little unethical, but 🤷‍♂️ afterall, these fish need homes.

They'd sell on here if priced sensibly. It's not like they're monster fish.

My friend put his tropical fish into the indoor pond of the tropical greenhouse at Treborth Botanical Gardens (Bangor University) many years ago. We have been watching them adapt and enjoy a fairly natural life ever since.

They’re sellable species which are fairly in demand so shouldn’t be too hard to get rid of, especially the hypancistrus. Mixed sexed groups of plecs normally go quick online as they make decent breeding projects.

Have you tried your LFS. They probably won't buy them from you, but often give out credit notes.

I'm absolutely amazed, they are both sort after fish and the L 236 would sell for £100 a fish in the UK.
