This guy is great, if you ring him, he'll likely come out if your in his area, or you can drive over to get it. He charges me £5 for a 2kg exchange cylinder. He can be a pain to get hold of, but once you have no problems.

Reef Life Aquatics

Co2 equipment and bottles and refills, huge tropica plant range (thats all they stock) , glass lily pipes etc, plant substrates, zoo med gear, and tasty tropical fish too!

agreed REEF LIFE is well worth a visit for anyone in the south west, or on holiday.

The Aquajardin in Gloucestershire is very good.
Visited today and they had several planted display tanks. Of which they all looked fantastic. The best was their Juwel Vision 450 with t5 lighting, eco-complete and pressurized Co2.
They stock red wood and different types of driftwood, aswell as several types of rock, including Dragon Stone, and Mini landscaping rocks.
Tropica plants were in the fish room in the middle and also in some of the tanks. One tank was specially set-up for different tyes of plants on wood or lava stone.
I myself, bought 2 Pogostemon helferi at £2.75 each and a pot of Anubias barteri var. nana at £6.99.

Hi all, even though i live in worcester aquajardin is my favourite lfs i can,t recommend them enough, regards john.

I went to Aquajardin today as some house viewings cancelled and I was in Gloucester.

It's just off the motorway and is the best I've seen that is attached to a Garden Centre.

As others have said it's very impressive inside. They had a decent selection of Tropica plants and a vast array of differenet fish.

I took a few photos to show off what they have in their display tanks (sorry photos taken by mobile).

What I was impressed was the large amounts of external filters on offer (never really seen them before in such numbers) and also had a stand for us plant people.

When I move down there, I think this will be my LFS.

It's good to see when shops move with the times. So often you go somewhere and it looks like the stock list hasn't changed for the last twenty years! A choice of filters is always nice, the standard fluvals and occasional eheims get a bit dull after a while!

I can only echo what others have said. I've only been to Aquajardin in gloucester once, but I was extremely impressed, and it stills remains one of, if not the best LFS I have visited to date

I had to pickup, pickup, a pa-parcel in Worcester so went to Maidenhead Aquatics in Worcester.
I was impressed with them as the chap there (passed the too early Crimbo dec's) was very chatty and helpful.
Managed to get two really nice pieces of wood that I might use in the future.
The plants were a bit algae-fied but in terms of customer service, was well impressed.

Does anyone know of a really good store in the Plymouth region? (Reel Life, Falmouth, is a bit of a trek with no car) A few ok little stores I know of, but nothing more specialist/larger.

Oh and Aquajardin is top notch - tropical, marine and pond. Quality plants and animals, and the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recomend! (I miss them :arghh: !)

Voted 1 of the best - i have been once, and they have a very nice selection.

I believe there are not many good plant retailers in Plymouth, take a look at emperor tropicals or Endsleigh, both I haven't been to in a long time so can't comment on what they keep. Your best bet really is to travel, I catch the train from Falmouth to Penryn (the station is just down the road to their shop) to Reef Life as I find they are the only ones with any good plants, I'm sure there is a service from Plym. Also might be worth giving Steve at reeflife a call as I'm sure he can mail you stuff too. Here's his number 01326 377660.

There's a new MA opened up in Christchurch, popped in today and they seem to be catering more towards planted etc. with a CO2 range and huge plant holding tank with some decent plants in! It's next to Stewarts Garden Center (AKA Gardenland) if your interested.

TBH, anyone is wasting their time looking for anywhere decent in the Plymouth/Torbay area, in fact even as far as Exeter there is nothing amazingly spectacular down here. What shops are in Plymouth/Torbay are pretty much all the same, and some of the advice I have heard from them is absolutely shocking.

Tri Mar in Camborne I can recommend, and Exeter Aquatics has some good quality fish. Other than that, there its rubbish down here. If only I had the money, but it would be madness to set up a shop here.

I think that sometimes I'm got the wrong hobby, theres nowhere decent in North Devon. I have to rely on companies such as trimar and the like that will post fish.

MA at Barnstaple is not too bad, at least it was ok when I went there last year, but your right, there is nothing really anywhere in Devon

It seems to have gone down hill, they seem to have mainly bread and butter fish anything different seems to be well over priced.
I went in there about 8mths agao and they seemed to have a bad bout of white spot and fungus and the variety of stocking never got back to what it was before.
