I have a small tank on kitchen worktop that's granite, I slide it a few feet one way for cleaning and back again and have had it overhanging the granite a few cm at times without an issue. Not that i would advise sliding one in the way i do. But that small overhang is irrelevant as long as you use something under the tank between the worktop, your tank probably came with an appritate material.
