Frustrated..changed to bigger tank and can't grow plants anymore!!!

Also I'd start testing with easy plants and wait until they show progress. It may all be connected to a new tank, bacteria colonies developing etc. One simple plants work in thus tank with that setup, id suggest to add me demanding plants. That way You will narrow the area of what is actually...

I got two externals and the spray-bar attached to both outcomes. One spraybar over the leght-two filters outcomes. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk

Same style of aquascape, after 10 years of practice...

Totally see the progress and agree. I'm usually struggling with long leaves of valisneria stopping the water circulation. Had to adjust the scape&trimm the leaves. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk

    James Findley's setups and CO2

I suppose the bubbles from the spray bar should hit the front glas and go down and backwards, not end up at the surface immediately. Not easy thing really. Good luck Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk

    Alleopathy

Everyone should read dosing salts and other tutoriald here on UKAPS :) then Clives comments and then perhaps Walstad :) yeah it's one of those not commercial aqua books.I like it too. Paid 40quit for it man. Good luck! P Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk

    Alleopathy

When I read walstad, this chapter about alleopathy also rang a bell.it's interesting idea that plants "fight" for whatever they need against other plants (taller and perhaps faster growing etc) releasing chemicals. Obviously hard to prove and not even priority to consider when doing a planted...

am I loosing the battle against brown algae?

Just to say I did hydrogen peroxide once struggling with algae but floating plants are going to help with balance and on the end are the only true solution.in my case hp didn't help much, just gave me fear that I'm killing what I need to stay alive to be honest. am I loosing the battle against brown algae?

Oh I see Martin. In that case I would suggest to approach it from the other side.more health y fast growing plants ?! if you don't want to touch your scape try floating plants, lots floating plans. Or even just ceratophyllum demersum and let it flow loosely?! Once the plants take over, those...

I know Clive is gonna eat me alive but otos r gonna love to help u for the start and after that u never gonna see the diatoms again, promisse.cyanobacteria is offten connected with low nitrates and low flow at the same time. Increase dosing of kno3, make sure not dead spots concerning flow, get...

    Where to buy in Scotland.

Eden Aquatics is getting to be the best shop around here. Darryle does a good job there. Andy knows what he speaks about and all the team grows around these two folks into an experienced and educated staff. This is shope is where I get my fish for sure. Now when part of reptiles moving to...

    Eco-Complete or ADA Soil

Interesting. if u grow two same plants dry, both with the same amount of atmospheric co2 available, u get two totally different results and only obvious difference is a substrate why one should not take it as an information to consider?! This is as I take it. cheers Aquadream for sharing ;)...

"Dutch something or the other" 120 Gal

That's lovely tank indeed. What I dont get is the co2 uptake when higher kh?! Do certain plants struggle to use the co2 dissolved in the water because of higher kh?! Eh?! Thanks P Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk

best co2 injection for 2-3 ft tanks, direct into externals or spread bubbles?

As Clive says "flow is the king!" As long as u get good flow which brings ur well dissolved co2 all over the tank u fine. I connect hoses directly to pumps and adjust the stream of co2 very fine bubbles bellow filters outcomes,so it keeps co2 in and distributes it further all over the tank...

    Too much light?

Btw as said light and nutritients need to be balanced.that's the best way.if u add too much co2 without having light u waste ur co2. If u got too much light and not enought co2 u starve ur plants and grow algae. Simple Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk
  24. P

    Too much light?

2x8w T5 for 35l is rather above medium light already. 1x8w T5 in 35l for HC would I'd think be on the edge?! Depends how hight above the tank obviously. I don't think nothing less than that would be considerable for HC though would be?! Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk

HC on low light, really? Well done you. Fair enough ;) Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk
  26. P

    Too much light?

Always better start with less light before ur plants get going. If u have high light without plants taking it, algae is taking over. It's like giving a runner lots of "energiser" without building up his mussels and shape first. He'll colaps. Systematic work and building up all what plants need...

    CO2 In the planted Aquarium

Hope it works for u. Co2 art regulator, solenoid, splitter for four tanks, bubble counters, tubing. CO2 In the planted Aquarium

Min 2kg cylinder and the rest from co2 art. Agree with big clown. If u can fit 5kg even better, may last about four months. I couldn't, will have to get second 2kg as refilling once a month for about 300l. Depends on how much co2 u l need. The less light, less co2 necessary. Diy is ok when...

Why do we aim for 30 ppm CO2?

Sorry Aquadream, pH fluctuations do depend on KH.

As an illustration, a 20 PPM increase in Co2 may lower the pH by 0.8 in low KH water, while the same in increase in Co2 may only lower the pH by 0.1 in high KH water.

The fish don't mind the pH change as such, as it is not...

BGA causing havoc in low flow tank
