So there's enthusiasts that try and help people with the info they have learned.....
is that such a bad thing? Really?
I browse a lot of forums and dont see people offering c&p responses "without giving them the time of day"
What I see is people trying to assist and help people to...
The amount of co2 your plants need depends on how much light you are giving them, the less light they get the less co2 they need.
Think of algae as a disease, if the plants are healthy they can fight off the disease. If they are unhealthy due to too much light/not enough co2 + ferts/flow then...
You could have a diffuser under the intake or just have the co2 tube going into the intake with no diffuser attached. I don't have a huge amount of experience with this but
the co2 tube into the filter intake worked for me. I think it works better with a faster flow rate
I considered using a timer that way too but have never got round to it so far .
I found whats best for me is a slower rate of injection starting earlier. Therefore the co2 stays in the safe zone for the fish for longer before climbing too high.
You could go second hand and get a 40d body for ~£200 and spend the rest of your budget on some nice glass. (That's where the image quality is) If all you want to do is take nice pics and arnt fussed about the extra features (video mainly) then there is no point spending too much on a body. The...
Mine gasses off pretty slow, at co2 off 7pm the pH is about 6.6/6.5 and at lights off 11pm the pH is 6.8.
The next day at co2 on time the pH is 7.2 and the base line test I did (left aquarium water to stand overnight) is 7.6. So going by that there is still co2 left in the water 24h later.
I...
I used a pH test to see what my co2 was doing, I bought an api liquid test and so far I only used it over 2 days and haven't used it again since I fine tuned my co2. I did hourly tests during co2 on time and it proved quite useful in terms of seeing how fast the co2 dissolves in the water and...
Mine comes on 3 hours before lights on, and goes off 4 hours before lights off. The plants are still pearling and the drop checker is still green just before lights off.
You could perhaps just monitor your drop checker/fish and set the timer to turn off the co2 when is starting to get too high
Is it true that you can test your reg to see how it behaves with end of tank dump? I read some where that if you shut off your bottle and open the solenoid, as the pressure decreases you will get an idea of what happens ( hope that makes sense )
If there is one thin I have learned on my planted tank journey, its add everything your plants need regardless of how much of it you think is in the water. It eliminates any doubt that your plants are getting what they need. Then you can concentrate on getting co2 and flow right.
Nitrate tests...
If you are using easycarbo, you are classed as high tech. If I were you I would get a ei starter kit and use that instead. You won't need the full reccomended dose, but something like 3/4 would be a good start.
You do have co2, easycarbo!
Mine was really noisy to start with, grinding and rumbling. I phoned the shop I got it from p@h and they said give it a week to settle down and see how it goes. After a week it was just as bad so they said bring in the top part of the Filter for a replacement and that was a lot quieter. After a...
Perhaps what I would do is test with just the bubble counter connected, and see if it remains the same or improves. If its the same, the reg is at fault or if it runs fine something is wrong perhaps more pressure is needed
I have one of these, bought it last time it was on offer and I'm very impressed with it. The pump was noisy for a couple of weeks but its quiet now. The light is perfect for a low tech set-up , I just add some ferts now and then and not a bit of algae in sight!
You get two 500ml bottles one for macro and the other for micro, you dose them alternating days and miss a day a week. So that means for a 150l tank 30ml a day, you will only use 90ml per bottle per week
My reg came with instructions to have the needle valve fully open and the solenoid turned on (open), before slowly releasing the pressure into the reg to avoid damage
I was in the same predicament as you, but in the end I went for the co2 supermarket regulator. Its not adjustable (which is what I wanted) but it has a high enough pre set pressure to run a UP inline atomizer perfectly, and so far its been flawless.
In my opinion, a fish in cycle is OK as long as it is managed carefully to prevent suffering for the fish. That just means putting the minimum amount of hardy fish in and doing plenty of water changes.
Well the Co2 Supermarket regulator turned up today, I have got it all set up and working. Its pretty good to be honest, seems decent quality and its giving a constant steady rate of co2. Its set at 50 psi which is more than enough for the UP inline atomiser so no problems at all
I have ordered the co2 Supermarket regulator, which they told me has a preset pressure of 4 bar and therefore will run any type of diffuser. I will let you know if it runs the Up inline atomizer when it arrives. Also its only £54 delivered
Interesting thread, I have been pondering about using a reactor instead of an inline diffuser. I'll be honest I don't like the look of a tank full of bubbles even if they are tiny.
Hi there,
I had a bad experience with the Easy Aqua regulator, It was faulty with a fluctuating output pressure. I just could not get a constant flow of gas out of it. I am in the process of trying to obtain a refund from Aqua Essentials at the moment.
I did a search on this forum and some...
