    Algae on Christmas Moss

I completely understand. After all, the fish are the main reason we are in this hobby. Perhaps increase the CO2 but raise your outlet to promote good gas/oxygen exchange. The plants will also photosynthesise more with an increase in CO2 and therefore produce more oxygen.

    Algae on Christmas Moss

The drop checker offers a guide but really the limitation is dictated by the tank inhabitants. If the plants and algae indicate you need more CO2 then you either need to add more CO2 or decrease light intensity. A lot of folk will adjust their injection rate to the point where the CO2 is at a...

    EasyCarbo max dose

Personally its not something I would want to overdose. Even at the normal rate I'm convinced it melted my Cryptocoryne Usteriana whereas every other plant seemed fine. I'd rather look at other alternatives, another water change in the week, clean out any mulm in the tank or filter, ensure flow...

    A thick and full carpet...

Agreed. I'd increase the water changes too.

Why would that be an issue?

    Struggling with Brown Algae

The plants dont grow despite you giving them heaps of CO2 and nutrients (and flow). If the light was well, well under the light compensation point (LCP) then they'd degrade.

    BBA and liquid carbon

Still havn't addressed the underlying issue. BBA tells us that we need to pay more attention to our CO2 levels/distribution. You may put SAEs in to mop up the BBA but the plants are still potentially suffering from carbon deficiency. Beautiful tank btw. Reminds me of a terrestrial garden.

How to disassemble a Diatomic bomb

Manual removal and lots of water changes will see it go. Continue giving the plants everything they want too. I'm sure you know that if you dose Easycarbo then you are required to do 50% water change per week because of the elevated plant growth rate (which leads to more production of metabollic...

Surface Scum, Dark stuff on Leaves, Yellow Gravel. HELP!

Lime green is favoured more. Have you moved this drop checker to different locations in the tank to show that there is a good distribution of CO2 throughout the tank? Might be worth it if you haven't already.

Algae IS taking over and I'm at the end of my knowledge

You've asked for advice and it's been given. But you choose not to take it. The hair algae you are experiencing is because of low CO2/your lighting it too high(intense). We can easily test for this in tanks with medium-high light. Turn off the CO2, neglect tank and see what pops up. Many kinds...

    ID my algae please.

The ammonia being discussed can't be detected by the test kits that are readily available to us as hobbyists. Those test kits are calibrated to show "0" when the level is safe for fish and invertebrates. It isn't actually "0", otherwise the nitrogen cycle wouldn't work. It would be something...

    ID my algae please.

I've had this before, and it is BGA. I had the slimey coating as well at the same time.

    BGA treatment

If everything else it up to scratch (water changes, maintenance, cleaning out mulm in filters) then yes, add more Nitrogen.

Lol. The 32% came from................ 40(litres taken out) divided by 125(total tank volume) and then multiplied by 100 to get a percentage. Cheers. I have been told by others how different I look

Hey Steve. Thanks for the reply. I hear what you're saying about the Juwel internals. However, for me it does create really good flow, more than my external. On the 22nd, I went ahead and cleaned the internal. Gave each sponge a squeeze in tank water to get rid of large deposits, and changed the...

I've recently purchased a 1000lph Eheim water pump, which makes water changes so much easier. It's now possible to do a 50% water change, any time I want and to do it quite quickly. I did a 50% water change yesturday. I've been dosing 10ml of TPN+ each day. The drop checker is green throughtout...

Blimey. Thank you so much, Clive. Being extremely knowledgeable is one thing, but it's great that you can put the information across in terms that can be understood. I'll take into account all that you have said. Thanks again.

Circulation looks fine to me. I can judge it by looking at the CO2 mist being swirled around the tank. Tbh, I can't remember the last time I cleaned the filters. What would that achieve? The stocking is quite high. 3 Harlequin Rasbora 2 Black Widow Tetra 4 Congo Tetra (of which two are the...

Hey all. The tank in question is a Juwel Rio 125. 125litres 1200lph flow in total, supplied by juwel internal filter and Supafish Aqua external. 4x18W T8 (Osram Lumilux 880 Skywhite + Osram Lumilux 840) ADA Aqua Soil Malaya TPN+ 5ml per day. Pressurized CO2, 1 bps, drop checker is green...
