I'd suggest clearing out the tank, then using a plastic chopping board or something to split the tank into 2 parts, which you can the move as the number of shrimp decreases. This is how I've caught fish and shrimp from my tank before, and it works well as long as you move the board slowly so...
I've just got back from 6 weeks away and left the girlfriend to look after the tank. I purchased a load of (6) tablet sorting pots an put a days food in each labelled day. This way she couldn't over feed them.
For my EI I used 12 pots like those, 6 for a weeks worth of micro and 6 for a weeks...
