The crucible looking branch might look better off centre and tilted more to its side, as a rule try and work in thirds and the golden ratio. Creating a natural looking rock strata with your dragon stone poking through the vegetation and blended into the base of your branch would look more...
After dark usually on full moon and when all cyclists and 'riddlers' are fast asleep that mound groans quietly and cracks open, goblins emerge to dance and frolic in the twilight, by dawn the secret is again hidden by tar...
Looking really great swan brother, no mad rush to add the CRS until the tank is settled and with the ADA having just gone in.
Looks like your first trim is not too far away and to start shaping the moss...
So you are evidently impressed with the Twinstar, seems I'm left no alternative but to take the plunge and get three of them for my jumbo and some damn spare diffusers for 14 months time, there goes the Xmas budget :arghh:
Sorry mate, somehow did not see the last five months of your journal and was commenting on your initial pics posted 28th June, I'll climb back into my burrow... scape has really come on and looks great :)
Perhaps the wood could be less central and and try and wrap it more around and over the rocks or some of them, as your chosen wood imo has a root like feel to it rather than branches, so they could be inverted.
Ok, I see then it's bigger than I thought, when I saw the 90mm length I was thinking back to my own standard commercial size 900m tank which is just over 90L. Just reading over your thread again and wondering why some of your plants are not doing well. Difficult to be believe there is a CO2/flow...
Yeah good lively debate !
Come on Zanguli... I request you now put in a few tabs as suggested under one portion of the HC... and let mother nature decide what she wants ;)
For a newbie why struggle, enrich the substrate unless you deliberately want the challenge or have a point to prove. If I plant my grass lawn in river sand only and then water or perhaps add some liquid ferts with it, yes it's going to grow.. but not as nicely and as compact than if I had added...
Then try other options, after all you are currently planting them in just river sand in a new tank so you need to speed the enriching process up. Perhaps do a test, use some DIY tabs with say earthworm castings and osmocote under one portion of the HC and see how this goes compared to the non...
I understood from your post that you wanted advice with your HC carpet, hence I gave it.. I've grown HC carpets over many years and never only relied on just column ferts for a rich compact carpet, if that's what you are after..
Really like the rock formation, imo you don't need the big piece of wood... unless it's moved and creatively linked with the hardscape somehow..
Having two focal points on either side divides the tank and negates the flow of things....
Great start ! Your HC needs something in the substrate to get it going firing than just column ferts, how about some gelatin DIY tabs ?
I presume that's self collected Congo sand not ADA Congo ?
just contact your local fire hydrant supply and service center, they are bound to have second hand one and should be able to fit the correct valve for your new reg and then supply the CO2. .
That your scape looks superb whether its's a white or a black ground is a great compliment for starters..
Perhaps go for white when it comes to a comp tank shot as then the branches create a stronger focus point than with black. You could try some stones and decide from there, but not missing...
Enjoyed the thorough meticulous planning and great photoshop skills !
I agree with Aquamaniac, having basically two focal points almost competing with each other on either side of the tank perhaps confuses things a bit, is there anyway you can combine both the tree and rock/cave outcrop...
