The inlet does the job and looks better than any other skimmers I used so far and IMHO is better even than most of the glass inlets out there, the outlet on the other hand looks kinda mehh, might be ok for a large tank but for my little 70l it's tooo big. Don't have pics with it but I might add...

Please check the filter specs before saying that they use low flow rate, it may look like that because of the large spread of the lily but it's not. Regarding maintenance if you want your tank to look that way you must stick your hands in it often, whether you like it or not. :)...

Just use couplings to bend the eheim's hoses in your desired position. It's easier. Mike
