Regular Hygro Corymbosa would probably look out of place.But the Siamensis 53b has narrower leaves.I presume this variety has the same flowers

No. Its Easylife's equivalent to Tropical premium. You need something with N & P

Hi If this is a new plant then chances are it hasn't converted to its submerserd form. New growth will look different,which I think you can see at the top of the stem

Yep,cut those off,they're not going to get any better. Dying leaves won't cause diseases exactly,but will add to the sort of organics that you don't want in your tank. Keeping the tank clean is one best things you can do IMO.

I always found my Java fern to grow similarly to Bolbitus. Slow,until it hits a certain plant mass, then it takes off.

My Frogbit flowers intermittently. It's less than impressive, as far as blooms go.

Hi Welcome to the forum Your mystery plant is a Cryptocornye. Difficult to make out exactly which one. Good news is that they're easy to grow,doesn't need much light.

Hi the growth you are seeing are aerial roots.It's what stem plants do. You can cut them off if you don't like the look. Alternatively,trim the stem, below a node that has them,gives a rooted cutting.

I've grown Vallis with Easycarbo. Never dosed more than 1.5x with it though.

Hi I've grown this in a standard 60cm tank,using easycarbo & under T8 lights (because not only am I dinosaur;I'm tight). Admittedly it was a bit tall and straggly,but it did grow. Nothing ventured etc etc

Hi Confusingly it looks like my Hygrophila Corymbosa. But normally it's a quicker grower.Pinholes in Hygro's are usually co2 or K related I think.

Hi.I'm currently growing/trimming it. Depends what look you're after,but basically treat it like most other stems. Keep it bushy,by removing the growing tip. I tend to trim,so that any new cutting has 6 leaves. Remove the bottom pair of leaves,and replant the bare stem.They'll regrow new roots...

Yes. 2 new stems will grow from the highest node left on the original stem. Any of the original stem/stalk left above this point will die back and look ugly imo. Therefore I like to trim stems back to as close to a leaf node as possible.That's not always easy though if it's a big clump.

Hi Any chance of a bigger pic? As someone who's previously struggled with Frogbit, i've had more success this time by attempting to stop them floating around in the current. There's a couple of posts where people have contained it within a floating barrier.

Not sure i can add too much, but Vallis + Java Fern both grew quite happily together in this old tank. No additional carbon added.Just fed the fish a lot.

Needle java fern & Bolbitis ? Love the Xmas socks,but it's a bit early... Not sure using wood from a beach.I guess soaking for long enough should solve any possible salty issues ?

Have you tried Tropica's 1-2 Grow range ?

Apologies if this seems a daft question, but what are you after ? A poster of aquatic plants, "Athena" style ? (I'd go for the girl playing tennis, personally ;) ) Or a background for the tank ? Most LFS stock these.

The Alternathera should work just fine. I've grown it red, with moderate T8 lights & liquid carbon, no pressurised. Thought about a Lotus ? You can teach it to stay small & compact by constant pruning.

I've had mine in a 60cm tank, for over a year. By pruning out any large leaves regularly i've encouraged it to stay small & compact. Started out as a LC tank, but has had co2 for the last couple of months.

Perfectly normal.Lots of stem plants do this. If you don't like the look of the aerial roots trim them off. Can be useful to have them when it's time to trim the tops and replant

I had the dwarf variety for the best part of a year in a liquid carbon tank. After upgrading to pressurised it started to look really good.Nice sized leaves, compact growth. Good enough to eat. At least that's what my Amano shrimp thought...:banghead:

Bearing in mind that Crypts can be slow growing. Balansae at the back right? Its leaves can grow 60cm+ long ;);) For the 'bushy', try the Wendtii. The 'Tropica' variety gets around 15-20cm high depending on the conditions, and has a nice leaf pattern. Just some thoughts....

Take your pick. Most are Asian, most are easy to grow in low light & upwards. What area is it for,foreground ? Parva, Willsii or Amoricum. Wendtii is a bigger & comes in couple of different colours. Balansae gets very tall. After planting, if any of the leaves 'melt',don't panic.This commonly...

The Bacopa you bought was probably emmersed growth Mark, it looks a little different after it's produced new growth. If i remember correctly Carolinaina smells like lemons.

Hi for starters if you're using pressurised then ideally you want a fert with NPK, so you may want to change from Tropica Premium to Tropica Specialised. Do you use a drop checker? How many bubbles per sec into the diffuser? Also what plants, and how long have they been in. Lastly, i don't know...

Hygro Polysperma & Rotala do pretty well in mine. Not a stem, but Vallis does well if your water is slightly harder edit oh yeah, Limnophila Sessiflora too

Personally i take em off, right down at the crown.Just removing the leaves looks untidy IMO, plus i guess the remaining stem will just rot away. Problem is, pruning can encourage new growth :)

Have you grown it sucessfully before? Hard or soft water? I was under the impression it prefers harder water, something to do with being able to utilise the carbonates (not too sure about the science bit)

I've tried Pinnatifida a couple of times, in different tanks.Low tech & with liquid carbon.Never really got it to take. Rumour has it, it's not keen on hard water.I maybe wrong.

Ok, so i know how to prune stems at the nodal point to produce a 'bushier' plant, but what do you do with Limnophila species? i currently have Limnophila Sessiflora, but it doesn't seem to branch into 2 stems after pruning out the growing tip, just a single side shoot. Occasionally a new side...
