Hi,
I want to create a scape using Riccardia chamedryfolia, but in the past I’ve run into difficulties. First I found it difficult to attach to rock or wood (tried thread and glue) and it would easily detach and float free getting lost or removed by filters. Secondly where I could get it growing it quickly became ground zero for Cladophora which then started a two year battle before recently I finally admitted defeat and started again.
Can this species be grown emersed for a long period of time first, giving it ample access to CO2 rich, humid environment? I’m hoping this might establish it firmly to the rock without algae and then flood it weeks if not months later?
Would it then need to transition to submersed environment after? Then Melt?
Once flooded I’m going to be using CO2 injection and Twinstar RGB lighting, ferts (Tropica Specialist Nutrition), with a HC carpet and stem plants probably Rotala H’ra. The only tank inhabitants would then be some shrimp, I’m thinking Crystal Red Shrimp and I use RO water with a TDS around 80 and ph ends up about 6.8.
Does this sound like a viable plan? Any hints or tips would be much appreciated!
Thanks
