    Fish identification please.

Hey Ady  Looks to me like a Crossocheilus reticulatus, quick Google search shows it's also known as a silver flying fox as well as a reticulated algae eater so think that's where the confusion arose from. I remember sanj making a nice post regarding siamese algae eater/ flying fox...

125L First tank, low turned high tech, plant and pic heavy

Re: First ever tank Also, I would leave you Lilly in and see how it goes, as you mentioned earlier it's more than likely the fact it's having to adapt to a new environment. I believe it's always a result of differing CO2 levels more than anything else, but I wouldn't add anymore LC than you...

125L First tank, low turned high tech, plant and pic heavy

Re: First ever tank Hi Jason, The tank looks like it's coming along nicely, despite your issues with a few of the plants. It's hard to tell for sure, but that shell shape and snail size seem to ring a few bells. Did he bare any resemblance to the snail in the following topic? Unidentified...

Seems easy, a little too easy...

Thanks for the reply, Wearsbunnyslippers. I thought something like this could work, I just had reservations that the root growth would be enough to hold the soil in place. Nothing for it but to try though I suppose, won't be able to for a while, but when I hopefully invest in a big tank to...

Seems easy, a little too easy...

Well, I wasn't sure where best to post this as it involves a few areas, so settled on the Plant section. I believe ADA's Wabi-Kusa have been around for quite some time now in the form or substrate balls however with recent ADA view videos, it's clear they're extending the term to include...

What type of rock is this?

Hey Emyr, Initially I was going to hop on the band wagon and cry Seiryu stone also, however I think you may be right with your Ryuoh hunch. Take a look at the following TFH article  Aquascaping with Ryuoh-seki stones A little more here: Expressing a Sense of Depth Using Ryuoh Stones...

Calzone's new 120x60x45 optiwhite tank build

Hi Calzone, excellent start  I'm glad you sorted out your image posting issues as I for one am certainly looking forward to seeing this progress. As to your earlier powerhead question, I've only ever seen the ecotech powerheads powered by the magnetic coupling you described. By all...

    bubble counter question-urgent

Sorry for the delay, Vygec. Was preoccupied yesterday and never got a chance to check in. Like Davem suggested, I would disconnect the tube from the diffuser and see if any gas comes through then. You could also do the same for the bubble counter to see if the CO2 has stopped at the regulator...

    bubble counter question-urgent

Not sure I quite understand you, Vygec. The order I have mine is regulator > check valve > bubble counter > atomiser/ reactor/ diffuser. As long as there in that order, should be fine. Does that help?

    bubble counter question-urgent

Inlet is at the bottom of the image you linked. The little plastic nib that's visible is where the CO2 bubbles come out of but prevents it draining when you fill it with fluid. You could also blow it, the check valve will stop one way but allow the other hopefully  Hope that helps.

A Rocky Road - New inhabitants

Hi Creg  It's known as Manazanita wood and it hails from the USA. Tom Barr ships a fair bit out (he goes by the name of Plantbrain on our forum) and that's where I got my box from. It's also available from the forum sponsors, Aquaessentials. Once you hit 25 posts, you should be able to...

A Rocky Road - New inhabitants

Well, following on from this topic -> *Ticking bomb!*, threat levels have been reduced from Defcon 3 back to 4 . I removed three of the little blighters and haven't seen any sign of more, fingers crossed the threat has been neutralised! In other news, growth seems to be proceeding slowly...
