    Transporting a planted tank

Just moved my second tank to my new flat. I found it difficult to catch the cardinal tetras and shrimp so in the end I pretty much had to strip to down to remove hiding places. I caught all the tetra's and most of the shrimp. Tank was then drained to about an inch and any shrimp left had to...

    Moving House

Thanks for all the advice all very helpfull. The water should be the same as I'm staying in the same block. I currently have 2 tanks and I was looking at moving all the fish into the bigger one anyway. I am thinking of emptying the small one, set it up downstairs and move the fish into there...

    Moving House

I'm possibly moving flats in a month or so, which raises questions of how I go about moving tanks and fish. Any tips or advice greatly received! The good news is that I'm only moving within the same block, top floor to bottom. (bottom floor has concrete floors which opens up new tank ideas!!).

I think its perspex, well it doesn't sound like glass. I use the plastic top of a test kit. Doesn't scratch but does the job...slowly.

Due to a flat mates lack of finacial skils we often have no gas therefore the room temperature drops to as low as 10 degress some nights, so the 'delta' is 15 degrees or more sometimes. I thought you therefore need to over spec the heater in wattage?

None yet! But the Cherries in my other tank have no problems! I was going to add some Bee shrimp but they can hybridise with the tigers, so am unsure.

The shrimp seem happy so far, the Tigers have only been in a week but seem happy. I was thinking that it needs some hardscape and mossy branches would work. The heater is to long to fit neatly in the corner (partly cause of the raised level) so I need a short (er) 150W heater.

Welcome :) Tell us about yourself

Might as well introduce myself as I've been here a couple of weeks. Hi I'm Andy, pleased to meet you all, and thanks for the advice I've got so far! I got into the planted tank over a year ago. I got a tank of my sister for free and wanted tropicals so I began looking into it. I then began...
