Continuous CO2 injection, pH and CO2 profile

Hi all, I am setting up my new 130x85x55 aquarium with an overflow weir along the complete 130 cm back and a sump. For the first time in my 35 years of aquarium experience, I will go for a continuous CO2 injection, instead of of pH-controlled system. The tank is currently in dark-start modus...

Aqua-soil and RO water: is a KH booster needed?

to revive an older post: what do people now generally do when using 100% RO water with aquasoil, CO2, no stones that add KH and shrimps? Is it worth to toss in a bit of KH? I was thinking to just add MgSO4 and CaSO4 (and NPK daily dosing during the week). I used to have an inert substrate and...

    drainage cells & hardscape

Hi all, I am in the process of setting up a new tank with lots of heavy wood and stones. I bought these drainage cells to create a bit of height and to ensure sufficient flow under the hardscape. Now, should I fill these cells completely with small lava rocks, or can I should I leave the space...

unsure whether the following shops send to Denmark, but I get my micronutrients from Belgium, whereas I live in The Netherlands (so at least they ship abroad) BORMS - Micronutriënten You could also try: Welkom bij Aquariumbemesting.nl With the following shops I do NOT have personal...

Can you help the nitrate tester?

Hi Maq Thanks for your quick reply! You then also do not calibrate the ISE like a pH probe then? Like pH 7 and pH 4 calibration fluids to determine the value and slope. Perhaps best if I contact this firm directly :-) thanks! Yme

Can you help the nitrate tester?

Hi Maq I am also interested in purchasing ISE for nitrate/(phosphate), but never encountered anyone using ISEs in aquarium settings. Could you perhaps elaborate a bit on how you connect the electrode to a measuring device? I see no device sold on their website specifically for ISE. Could you...

    curled leaves bucephalandra

Hi again... I was a bit busy :-) I am dosing my micro's according to the CSM+B calculations based on EI-daily dosis. I really doubt that low macro's are the culprit, as they are not low. Some trace element issue is in my opinion also more likely. I will play around with the traces dosage...

    curled leaves bucephalandra

They have already formed five or so new leaves, so I think we can rule out adaptation to the tank. But thanks for the suggestion!! Yme

    curled leaves bucephalandra

maybe I should have mentioned N+P as well :-) I add 4 mg/l PO4 per week and 10 mg/l NO3 per week. when measured PO4 is around 2-3 mg/l and NO3 around 20 mg/l. and tank is 155x50x50 = 387 liter and I am indeed not unhappy with the tank. as said, a bit too much spot alge and a very little bit...

    curled leaves bucephalandra

yes, but those leaves are in the process of unfolding, they always end up normal. (there is however too much green spot algae, but that has probably nothing to do with buce-issue) I mix indeed my own traces: the chelated I buy from this site: http://www.borms.eu/nl/e-shop/shop/micronutrienten...
