Hey guys . Im relatively new to fishkeeping and brand new to the forum today. I am a marine biologist and scientific diver and had always intended to get a fish tank but had never got round to it. When a little 70l beaut came up on freecycle, I realized I could delay no longer. I have just moved up to Inverness and got a job at the fishkeeper store and I am really excited about starting this Wednesday! I am about to give my tank a new scape and joined the forum to ask for a little advice on a couple of queries.
Here are some pics of my setup before I made the move.
From left:
On bogwood - Bolbitus heudelotii
Behind and infront of wood - Microsorum pteropus
Background - Cabomba aquatica
Right of wood - Bacopa compacta
Red lily - Nymphaea lotus
On red stone - Anubias nana
The piece of red stone I collected during a marine bio field trip to Dunbar, a coastal town east of Edinburgh. It is sandstone and the holes have been bored by marine invertebrates likely molluscs such as common piddocks. I had to spend a while pipe cleaning the rotten juvenile mussels out of the holes after I left it to boil for a few hours and realized that it needed more thorough cleaning when I came back to a foul stench in my flat .
Meet Boris my bristle nose pleco. The first fish I bought and the only fish I've named.
Celestial pearl danios are one of my favourite aquarium fish. Both their story and aesthetics are brilliant!
When my RCS got pregnant I took the opportunity to test out my new 50mm macro lens .
