hi mort this is what i use and look for when looking under a micro scope
upload_2016-12-23_5-24-36.png

these are all the main ones to look for on our fish. there are more obviously. but this is my guide line i use. hope this helps
mort. all the best have a good xmas and new year mate

DW thanks mate. Glad you like. And yes mort i have a book mate to look for parasites and nasties mate. The hardest to spot is costia. And white spot on koi is deadly. One of the hardest to get out the pond. Yet in an aqurium. I found it was easy to get rid of. Unbelievable really. You would have thought it was the same.
The costia has differant strains. Tropical and what we call european. The tropical strain is deadly. You have to catch them early.
Another thing i have learned. And my advice is a window is a must. Not just for enjoyment for viewing. But also for spotting problems. As soon has i see my fish flashing or sulking.or staying on there own. For a few days. Out comes that fish. Scrape and scope. Touch wood mine are ok for now. Spring time is when the problems normally come along. As the koi are weak and immune system is low. All the best fred

new year new project

Quarantine and grow on

first of all i hope you all had a merry Christmas and a very happy new year
over the last 6 days i have been online looking for gear for the job. all the gear is now here. just the bottom drain to turn up.
all the wood and cross strength members are all bought. here

Dimensions are length 6 feet width 4 feet depth 4 feet. its going to have a 2 inch bottom drain with a weighted air ring. also celotex boards for holding the heat in. fiber glassed on top.
celotex will be all around meaning the floor as well. there will be a lid as well. with a small gap to gas off. as i shown you earlier on in the thread. my mate has exactly the same one so it is tried and tested
here is some of the gear that will be in use

Frame work being done so far. The gaps at bottom is where pipe is coming out for filters and returns.

If you look at back wall that will give you an idea of where the celotex insulation.Fiber will fit. With a board place inside. So that will be sandwiched in between. Then fiber glass the board not the celotex.
Thats it folks untill tomorrow. All the best fred

Zozo. Thanks. Its looking good. Had a problem with my fish found out it was leeching from the cement on the brick work. How i noticed this was my window frame was marked. In two places. Like a stain. So looked in my drum waste tray. And there was particles of sand cement.

To rectify this i have bought G4 clear. I have already coated top pond. I will do inner of pond as the weather gets better. You need 24 hours. Bloody good stuff G4. I went and looked at it this morning. Seals the cement in great.

Todays progress. The tank is built now. Just needs fiber glassed.

Bottom drain sealed with sealant and screwed the bottom drain to bottom of tank.

Front of tank insulation 25mm celotex. We built it up to 75mm on the front. Reason. When door opens. The front of the tank is hit first with the cold
